Peter Griffin
My thanks to Chrystoph Marten for selecting these images for this timely virtual and outdoor socially distanced production. This edit of my photographs document several friends from my first decade in NYC. In 1979 I moved from a small dairy farm town outside of Buffalo, North Boston NY to 14th Street in the East Village. I was enrolled as a student in the Fine Art Photography program at The School of Visual Arts. After finishing SVA in 1983 I stayed busy assisting Pro photographers in NYC and continued my creative play, evidenced here.
My first boyfriend was William Zammora aka "ZAMI". He was an early company member in Les Ballet Trockadero. His portrait and some ballet personas are pictured. He died of AIDS complications on March 15, 1986. He was the first person in my life out of too many that I watched die of AIDS. The "creative play" continued despite qualifying for AIDS Disability in 1991, more losses to AIDS and my own AIDS illnesses to navigate.
